Here is to Better Digestion

The nervous system, like a conductor guiding a symphony, oversees the seamless functioning of our entire body. Disruptions in the harmony of this symphony can occur, often in the form of spinal misalignments, known as vertebral subluxations. When these arise in areas like the skull, spine, or pelvis, they impede proper function, potentially leading to dysfunction and even, in the long run, disease. Let's explore how these disruptions specifically impact the intestinal tract, affecting how your body is able to digest food, there are three key areas:

The Skull and Pelvis: Subluxations at the top and bottom of the spine interfere with the parasympathetic nervous system, responsible for the body's 'rest and digest' mode. Such disruptions can keep the body in a state of constant hyperactivity, leading to restlessness, delayed healing, and reduced intestinal motility. Birth stress often contributes to subluxations in these areas.

The Spine: Specialised nerves in the intestine regulate its motility—facilitating the movement of matter through the tract. These nerves link directly to the celiac ganglion, which also serves the stomach, liver, gallbladder, and more. The celiac ganglion connects to the spinal cord through nerve roots in the lower thoracic and upper lumbar region

Occasionally, we experience restricted movement within the organs themselves. These muscular constraints often stem from nervous system interference and warrant attention. Common sites of restriction include the oesophagus-stomach junction, the small-large intestine junction (ileocecal valve), and the large intestine (valve of Houston). Addressing these areas through chiropractic adjustments facilitates normal body function. As these issues persist into adulthood, they tend to evolve into complex, chronic situations. This brain-body disconnection can disrupt the gut's enzymatic and microbial environment. Complicating matters, compromised gut health can lead to inadequate neurotransmitter secretion, impacting mood and overall brain well-being. This spiralling cycle is a significant concern, underscoring the urgency of intervention. Breaking this cycle early on holds profound implications for health.
